The Earlsbrook House team have earned a reputation of excellence in providing person centered care in a homely environment. Earlsbrook House has been adapted to care for residents living with or without a dementia. We also provide short term Convalescence Care and Respite care.
The social engagement of our residents is very important to us at Earlsbrook House and while led by the Social Care Leader it is considered to be the responsibility of all staff working in the home.
Life in the home is for living and enjoying. We take great time to get to know our residents, their families and their lives before they came to live with us so we can meaningfully engage with them and plan with them how they wish to spend their days.
Social interaction and activities are a natural part of everyday life in Earlsbrook House and the smallest of opportunities are taken to bring enjoyment to all of us. We also arrange for entertainers to come into the home and for residents to go out on trips. Life is for living!
Earlsbrook House is located on the Meath Road in Bray, Co. Wicklow. The Home is situated at the corner intersection between the Meath Road and Victoria Avenue. We are within easy access of local amenities in Bray, all parts of South Co Dublin and North Wicklow.
We are a 5 minute walk from Bray dart station and the beautiful seaside promenade. Earlsbrook House has been tastefully extended to accommodate 64 residents in twin and single rooms. The interior features three day rooms, dining areas, a smoking room and oratory for use by the residents and families. Residents can also enjoy the internal courtyard.
Care Options Available
Long Term Care: Earlsbrook House provides long term care to the frail elderly and those living with physical challenges. We have also earned a reputation of excellence in providing specialised person centered dementia care.
Dementia Care: The team at Earlsbrook House worked with PCHT.ie over the last 2 years and all staff have received training in person centered dementia care.
With our person centered care culture, care is driven by the wishes and preferences of residents, particularly those living with a dementia rather than being driven by an institutionalised task based model. There is an abundance of interesting items and ‘stuff’ carefully selected and available in lounges to provide appropriate stimulation for residents and to assist staff to enter and share a residents reality in a comforting and supportive manner.
Convalescent: We offer convalescent care to patients discharged from hospital following surgery and /or medical episodes and requiring some extra medical, nursing and rehabilitative care before going home. We are approved for a number of private healthcare providers. At Earlsbrook House we will provide respite care to older persons on a private basis or in conjunction with the HSE.
Respite Care: Earlsbrook House also provide respite care to older persons on a private basis or in conjunction with the HSE. This service provides well deserved breaks to family carers caring for older persons in the community.
FirstCare Group help all our residents and family understand what is available to them with the Nursing Homes Support Scheme, better known as ‘Fair Deal Funding’. Under the Nursing Homes Support Scheme, you will make a contribution towards the cost of your care and the State will pay the balance.
This applies whether the nursing home is public, private or voluntary. The Fair Deal Scheme does not apply, however, to Convalescent or Respite care in a nursing home. Applicants for residency in a FirstCare home cannot avail of State funding for a nursing home place prior to receiving approval of their Fair Deal application. For further information on the Fair Deal Funding Scheme and the application process please visit “Our Guide to Fair Deal Funding” or contact the FirstCare Support Office on (01) 2020799.
