Beneavin House is a purpose built nursing home in Dublin established in 2009 and providing accommodation to 150 long stay residents. We offer person-centered care to the frail elderly and to those living with or without dementia. Set in the secure and tranquil surroundings of a residential area, the home remains in close proximity to Dublin City Centre with easy access to public transport.
At Beneavin House we are proud of our high standards of person-centered care. All our staff are registered nurses or trained care assistants looking after the needs of all our residents in a professional and person-centered way.
Our Home Manager:
At Beneavin House we have a flexible schedule of organised activities including baking, games, gardening, visits from external musicians and entertainers and plenty of trips to local attractions and amenities.
We really enjoy celebrating and marking all important Religious and social events with our residents and families throughout the year. Led by the Social Care Leaders all Beneavin House staff create a natural person centred approach to activities throughout the day for all our residents.
We understand that our residents bring with them their individual interests and hobbies and our social care leaders will support residents in every possible way to residents wishing to maintain their interests or to develop new ones.
We all enjoy reminiscing with the residents and families and encourage families to share wonderful nuggets of information about the lives of their loved ones with us so we can engage meaningfully with residents living with or without a dementia.
Beneavin House is a nursing home in Dublin located on the north side in the mature residential area of Glasnevin, Dublin 11. We are situated on Beneavin Road, off Glasnevin Avenue, next door to our sister home Beneavin Lodge on one side and Beneavin College on the other.
Beneavin House is a four-story building accommodating 126 residents in single ensuite rooms and 24 residents in 12 twin rooms. Our floors are names: Oakfield, Willowbrook, Claremont and Cedars. Claremont is divided into Claremont Walk and Claremont Way. Claremont is an 11 bedded dementia focussed area specifically designed to meet the needs of residents living with dementia. The living room contains an old style kitchenette and the corridors and walls are designed to stimulate and facilitate meaningfully engagement with the residents living there. All the residents living in Arbutus are living with a dementia.
The secure walls and electronic gates make Beneavin House a safe sanctuary from the city, giving our resident the best of both worlds. With easy access to public transport and ample parking, Beneavin House is a Dublin nursing home perfect for residents searching for nursing care home in North Dublin.
Care Options Available
Long Term Care: Beneavin House provides long term care to the frail elderly and those living with physical challenges. We have also earned a reputation of excellence in providing specialised person centered dementia care.
Dementia Care: The team at Beneavin House worked with Dementia Training Ireland over the last 2 years and all staff have received training in person centered dementia care. With our person centered care culture, care is driven by the wishes and preferences of residents, particularly those living with a dementia rather than being driven by an institutionalised task based model. There is an abundance of interesting items and ‘stuff’ carefully selected and available in lounges to provide appropriate stimulation for residents and to assist staff to enter and share a residents reality in a comforting and supportive manner.
Convalescent: We can offer convalescent care to patients discharged from hospital following surgery and /or medical episodes and requiring some extra medical, nursing and rehabilitative care before going home. We are approved for a number of private healthcare providers.
Respite Care: Beneavin House can also provide respite care to older persons on a private basis. This service provides well deserved breaks to family carers caring for older persons in the community. (This service may be limited in Beneavin House but we may be able to accommodate respite clients in one of our sister homes).
FirstCare Group help all our residents and family understand what is available to them with the Nursing Homes Support Scheme, better known as ‘Fair Deal Funding’. Under the Nursing Homes Support Scheme, you will make a contribution towards the cost of your care and the State will pay the balance.
This applies whether the nursing home is public, private or voluntary. The Fair Deal Scheme does not apply, however, to Convalescent or Respite care in a nursing home. Applicants for residency in a FirstCare home cannot avail of State funding for a nursing home place prior to receiving approval of their Fair Deal application. For further information on the Fair Deal Funding Scheme and the application process please visit “Our Guide to Fair Deal Funding” or contact the FirstCare Support Office on (01) 2020799.
