A Typical Day at Mountpleasant
As the saying goes, no army marches on an empty stomach, so the day begins with the most important meal of the day…Breakfast..
Once the rest of the house has risen to meet the day, a number of activities can be enjoyed before lunch. It could be as simple as reading the morning paper, or joining the Whitty knitters for a session and putting the world to rights.
Or perhaps head out to the local choir to exercise the vocal cords or just relax with our aromotherapist to enjoy a hand, head or foot message.
Lunch is enjoyed in our numerous spacious dining rooms in a relaxed atmosphere, giving you a chance to catch up with friends within the home, and plan your afternoon.
With numerous activities planned thought the week, you won’t be stuck for choice. These include attending one of our numerous musician / band / or karaoke sessions again to stretch the vocal cords, or getting your hair done in our in house salon!
If you’re feeling lively and want to work off lunch, group physio therapy can be enjoyed to get the pulses racing, followed by a relaxing chair yoga session to relax mind and body after your work out!
Mass can be attended every Thursday in house, with Eucharistic service offered four times a week.
With spring comes new life, and with the home surrounded by open fields where horses graze, foals are a welcome addition to our views.
Our large, internal courtyard also provides changing views throughout the seasons, with our residents gardening skills and knowledge dictating what is planted and when. Fruit and veg produced is then enjoyed within the home, with sprays of seasonal flowers adding vibrant colours and scents to the garden area.
Time can pass very quickly in the home, and following evening tea, time is spent relaxing, getting the body ready for a good night’s sleep, as there will be plenty to do in the morning!
What Our Residents Say
My room is just off the reception and dining room area. There is a great atmosphere in this home. I feel very at home here, and my family are always very welcome here also. My wife calls in every Wednesday to attend chair yoga with me and we always get to have a chat and a sociable cup of tea afterwards. The staff are very accommodating and friendly
I love to watch people coming and going from the reception area, the space surrounding the home is lovely, to match the lovely friendly environment within the home.
