Ireland’s longest established seaside town, Bray sits on the northern edge of County Wicklow and is often referred to as the “Gateway to the Garden of Ireland.” Bray boasts many attractions – from scenic cliff walks and beaches to bars, restaurants, arcades, & carnivals.
Bray Head is one of the top attractions, famous for the Holy Year Cross atop the summit, as well as its stunning views of the seaside and town. The Cliff Walk to Greystones provides a lengthier trek, with breathtaking views of the coastline the entire way.
Bray also hosts an annual silent film festival, the Killruddery Film Festival in Killruddery Gardens. The equally renowned Bray Jazz Festival takes place annually on the May bank holiday weekend and includes performances by jazz musicians from around the world. For 6 weeks in July and August, the Bray Summerfest includes free entertainment, live music, markets, sporting events, and carnivals.
Greystones – Situated just 6km south of Bray, Greystones was historically a small fishing village that has since grown into a warm and welcoming seaside neighborhood. You will find a variety of restaurants, pubs, shops, and golf courses all easily accessible from anywhere in town. Perhaps the most famous of these spots is the Happy Pear restaurant, where twin celebrity chefs Steve & David Flynn first launched their plant-based cooking empire.
Enniskerry – West of Bray, at the start of the Wicklow Mountains, lies the small town of Enniskerry. Powerscourt House, Gardens & Waterfall are three main draws to the area, each one offering its own unique beauty. Powerscourt Waterfall is Ireland’s highest waterfall and sees visitors from all around the country every year.
Glencullen – Just over the county line and to the north of Bray, sits the village of Glencullen. Have a wander around the surrounding hills and see the famous Fairy Castle with views of Dublin & Howth. Johnnie Fox’s pub offers dinner and a show including traditional music and dance.
As a resort town, Bray offers numerous options for transport to and from the town.
By rail, you may travel north into Dublin and south into County Wicklow and County Wexford. Bray is on the Irish Rail DART Rail Network which stretches north to Malahide and Howth and south to Greystones.
By road, Bray lies along the M11 motorway corridor; an interchange at its northern side links with the M50.
Six bus companies pass through Bray: Dublin Bus, Go-Ahead Ireland, Bus Éireann, Finnegan’s Bray, Aircoach, and St. Kevin’s Bus Service to Glendalough. Bus services serving the town include the 145 which serves the town between Ballywaltrim just south of Bray to Heuston Station serving UCD and Dublin city centre along the way. Other routes serving the town include the 45A/B, 84/A, 84N, 155, 184 and 185. Finnegan’s Bray also offer a nightlink service from Dublin. Aircoach operates a service to and from Dublin Airport.
A message from our home manager Claire
I’d like to welcome you to Earlsbrook House. Originally a family home, we’ve kept the design as such (with a few alterations) to preserve that feeling of a real home and not a hotel, helping to create a relaxed and cosy environment. We have a dedicated team of nurses, healthcare assistants, activity coordinators, allied healthcare professionals, ancillary staff (and not forgetting our two therapy bunnies), who’s priority is always the health and wellbeing of our residents.
Claire Johnston – Home Manager
Our teams of experienced chefs ensure every meal is not only delicious but reflects each individual’s likes, dislikes and dietary needs.
Our policy is to make sure every meal is nutritionally balanced and made from the best and freshest local ingredients.
Our kitchen staff are trained in practical workshops to learn about specific dietary requirements, concerns or problems and our home is supported by dieticians.
Our chefs also help cover all our special events such as birthdays with fresh cake.
The thing I like the most is the home is very pleasant and has nice company.
The home is kept clean and the food is very good. The staff are very good and helpful. My favourite day of the week is Wednesday, when we have our Knitting Club.
The staff are very good and very caring. The home is decorated nicely and there is always plenty of good entertainment.
